Dalam rangka menghadapi persaingan global serta meningkatkan kualitas SDM di negara kita, maka kualitas pendidikan memegang peranan vital. Pendidikan seni dan budaya adalah salah satu bidang yang mendapat perhatian dari pemerintah mengingat bidang ini terkait dengan pembentukan sikap karakter bangsa. Sehingga perhatian terhadap kualitas pembelajaran pada bidang seni pun perlu mendapatkan perhatian demi tercapainya cita-cita yang ditargetkan oleh pemerintah. SMAN 1 Losarang - Indramayu adalah salah satu institusi pendidikan yang menyelenggarakan pembelajaran seni budaya, termasuk pembelajaran seni musik. Permasalahan pembelajaran yang ditemukan pada berbagai literatur penelitian tentang pembelajaran di Indonesia ternyata terjadi pula pada SMA tersebut. Melalui hasil penelitian pendahuluan yang telah dilakukan sebelumnya, penulis mengasumsikan bahwa permasalahan tersebut terjadi karena peranan kualitas pengajar, materi ajar, dan metode ajar. Dalam penelitian ini, penulis menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tentang kualitas pengajar, materi belajar dan metode pembelajaran yang digunakan dalam pelajaran seni musik pada siswa kelas XI di SMAN 1 Losarang. Setelah dilakukan penelian, ternyata ditemukan beberapa kesimpulan. Berikut ini merupakan hal yang penting didalam pembahasan yang penulis paparkan sebelumnya. Penulis menyimpulkan bahwa dalam pembahasan yang berkaitan dengan sumber daya manusia dalam hal ini adalah guru, materi pembelajaran dan metode pembelajaran yang digunakan oleh bapak Djalaludin di SMAN 1 Losarang dapat dikatakan belum memenuhi standar nasional yang telah dibuat oleh pemerintah. penulis menyimpulkan bahwa semua materi yang digunakan oleh siswa kelas XI menggunakan materi dengan pemahaman yang kurang dipahami sendiri oleh pengajar, sehingga dalam penyampaian materi tersebut dapat menimbulkan kesalahpahaman arti oleh peserta didik dikemudian hari. Pada metode pembelajaran yang digunakan oleh pengajar juga sudah menggunakan metode yang tepat dan umum digunakan oleh bidang lain. (2) Bagaimana dampak dari strategi yang dipakai oleh Bapak Dicky Dwi Lesmana terhdadap siswa. Pendekatan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Pendekatan kualitatif dipilih dalam penelitian ini karena beberapa pertimbangan antara lain: (1) Penelitian ini merupakan upaya untuk mendeskripsikan permasalahan yang terkait dengan strategi pembelajaran musik pada kursus piano tingkat pre beginner 1 di EMS Kopo (studi kasus pada pengajar piano bapak Dicky Dwi Lesmana) (2) Penelitian ini lebih bersifat induktif, artinya peneliti berusaha mendeskripsikan permasalahan berdasar data yang terbuka bagi penelitian lebih lanjut; (3) Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam situasi yang wajar dan mengutamakan data yang bersifat kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menujukkan bahwa strategi yang digunakan bapak Dicky Dwi Lesmana dalam pembelajaran piano tingkat pre beginner 1 terdapat 3 strategi yang dilakukannya pertama melihat kepribadian murid, kedua melihat kemampuan musikal muird dan yang terakhir memberikan kebijakan khusus untuk murid. Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan: (1) Strategi yang digunakan Dicky Dwi Lesmana di EMS Kopo memperhatikan kepribadian murid, kemampuan musikal, kebijakan khusus dan dampak terhadap murid dalam materi yang dilihat dari progress report terbilang efektif dan baik. Berdasarkan kesimpulan penelitian di atas, disampaikan saran sebagai berikut: (1) sebagai pengajar sebaiknya perlu adanya dokumentasi berupa video pada saat proses pembelajaran, dengan tujuan mengetahui kekurangan dari setiap murid yang diajarkan lalu menjadi bahan evaluasi untuk kedepannya. A new method for constructing small-bias spaces from Hermitian codes

We propose a new method for constructing small-bias spaces through a combination of Hermitian codes. For a class of parameters our multisets are much faster to construct than what can be achieved by use of the traditional algebraic geometric code construction. So, if speed is important, our construction is competitive with all other known constructions in that region. And if speed is not a matter of interest the small-bias spaces of the present paper still perform better than the ones related to norm-trace codes reported in [12]

Centrosome-dependent microtubule modifications set the conditions for axon formation

Microtubule (MT) modifications are critical during axon development, with stable MTs populating the axon. How these modifications are spatially coordinated is unclear. Here, via high-resolution microscopy, we show that early developing neurons have fewer somatic acetylated MTs restricted near the centrosome. At later stages, however, acetylated MTs spread out in soma and concentrate in growing axon. Live imaging in early plated neurons of the MT plus-end protein, EB3, show increased displacement and growth rate near the MTOC, suggesting local differences that might support axon selection. Moreover, F-actin disruption in early developing neurons, which show fewer somatic acetylated MTs, does not induce multiple axons, unlike later stages. Overexpression of centrosomal protein 120 (Cep120), which promotes MT acetylation/stabilization, induces multiple axons, while its knockdown downregulates proteins modulating MT dynamics and stability, hampering axon formation. Fast Differentially Private Matrix Factorization

Differentially private collaborative filtering is a challenging task, both in terms of accuracy and speed. We present a simple algorithm that is provably differentially private, while offering good performance, using a novel connection of differential privacy to Bayesian posterior sampling via Stochastic Gradient Langevin Dynamics. Due to its simplicity the algorithm lends itself to efficient implementation. By careful systems design and by exploiting the power law behavior of the data to maximize CPU cache bandwidth we are able to generate 1024 dimensional models at a rate of 8.5 million recommendations per second on a single PC

Selective activation of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase in dopaminergic neurons of Substantia nigra leads to nuclear translocation of p53 in 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine-treated mice

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease characterized by the degeneration of the dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra pars compacta (SNpc). Activation of the mixed lineage kinase and c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) has been reported in models of PD. Our focus was to discern whether distinct pathways were activated in cell-specific manner within the SNpc. We now demonstrate the selective phosphorylation of p38 MAP kinase within the dopaminergic neurons, whereas JNK activation occurs predominantly in the microglia. p38 activation results in downstream phosphorylation of p53 and increased p53 mediated transcription of Bax and Puma in the ventral midbrain. Treatment with p38 inhibitor, SB239063 protected primary dopaminergic neurons derived from human progenitor cells from MPP+ mediated cell death and prevented the downstream phosphorylation of p53 and its translocation to the nucleus in vivo, in the ventral midbrain. The increased staining of phosphorylated p38 in the surviving neurons of SNpc in human brain sections from patients with PD and in MPTP treated mice but not in the ventral tegmental area provides further evidence suggesting a role for p38 in the degeneration of dopaminergic neurons of SNpc. We thus demonstrate the cell specific activation of MAP kinase pathways within the SNpc after MPTP treatment emphasizing the role of multiple signaling cascades in the pathogenesis and progression of the disease. Selective inhibitors of p38 may therefore, help preserve the surviving neurons in PD and slow down the disease progression

Self-supervised Outdoor Scene Relighting

Outdoor scene relighting is a challenging problem that requires good understanding of the scene geometry, illumination and albedo. Current techniques are completely supervised, requiring high quality synthetic renderings to train a solution. Such renderings are synthesized using priors learned from limited data. In contrast, we propose a self-supervised approach for relighting. Our approach is trained only on corpora of images collected from the internet without any user-supervision. This virtually endless source of training data allows training a general relighting solution. Our approach first decomposes an image into its albedo, geometry and illumination. A novel relighting is then produced by modifying the illumination parameters. Our solution capture shadow using a dedicated shadow prediction map, and does not rely on accurate geometry estimation. We evaluate our technique subjectively and objectively using a new dataset with ground-truth relighting.
